This page is a checklist of ideas to have in your own words. Do not read it to the teacher.
Be ready to explain
- Dilation: center, scale factor k, rule (kx, ky) from the origin, how to find a center that is not the origin.
- Similar vs congruent: angles match both times; sides proportional vs equal. Congruence is similarity with k = 1.
- AA: two angles enough, third is 180 minus the others. Why it is not called AAA.
- SAS similarity vs SAS congruence: proportional sides around a matching included angle, versus equal sides.
- SSS similarity: one k on all three pairs.
- Triangle Proportionality: a parallel splits the other two sides in the same ratio, and the converse.
- Altitude to the hypotenuse: three similar right triangles, and that this is how the course proves Pythagorean.
Have one number example for k and one proportion you can talk through without notes. If you are shaky on a piece, say so. The call is a good time to ask.
